What Is Twitter?
Twitter is the biggest thing since Facebook but the difference between Twitter and Facebook is that Twitter focuses on the concept of micro-blogging.
What is micro-blogging you ask?
Micro-blogging is a quick update that usually contains a limited number of characters. It is a popular features of Facebook where you let people know what you are doing by updating your status, however micro-blogging has become best known because of Twitter as Twitter users send and read other users' updates. These updates are known as Tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length and are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them.
By subscribing to the Twitter feeds of friends (called following), you are presented with a string of individual comments that you can reply to, forward to others (called a Retweet) or ignore. As others follow you back, you may find people responding to your own comments and sharing your comments with their friends - and this is the core of Twitter.
